Or: Existence is a series of footnotes to a vast, obscure, unfinished masterpiece
Wednesday was a good day – first time since weeks I was at my Dean & David again. It’s the little things, right …
Whats the state of society at the moment? What has changed? Is it even possible to assess if we as a race have been changed by this already? Most likely not. Yet alone, as something like a world-race or society does not exist yet. The next years, will be very interesting. For sure, I can say that on a global perspective, my life won’t be boring. A lot has happened in my lifetime already, a lot will will happen and I hope not just awful things. Might be not the badest thing to lead a boring life on your own in the end when the world around you collapse every other year …
Today our foreign minister announced that the generic travel warning will be prolonged until at least mit of June. He did not said “Sorry folks, no summer vacation this year” but that’s basically what he means. Fine with me, but then again I was never really much of a traveller. But even though that’s the most important thing in your life, you will survive to give up on it for one year. And by doing so, you might actually save some lives. Should be a no-brainer but I fear, it won’t. Germans and their summer vacation – not a funny thing.
In other news. I saw an old video by Obama where he (most likely inspired by people like Bill Gates and others) has been talking about a global crisis, just like Corona. In this video he speaks about getting prepared, getting equipped so that one might be able to react fast and contain a global virus before it kills millions. He says if this happens in five or ten years, one want to be ready, that would be a wise investment. A little bit over five years later, the current president of the USA says no one could see something like that coming and that no other administration reacted as fast and beautiful as his one. What a time to be alive.
Again nothing really to report. Wednesday is meeting day and that’s a good thing. Of course, for me almost every day is meeting day but as a team we try to handle every team-related meeting in one day. Mostly works fine. For me that’s week seven in lockdown, for some of us it’s week nine or even ten. I do forget that from time to time.
After I forgot it yesterday, I went shopping today first time with a face-mask. It’s actually quite annoying I think. I don’t even have my glasses on when I do grocery shopping but it’s still quite awful. I mean, I’m fully aware, this is complaining on a high note and not actually a problem, it’s just unfamiliar and most likely needs some time to get use to it. I think from Wednesday on, face-masks also became mandatory while they had been only strictly recommended before. As stated before, I’m absolutely not against it and I will get used to it. But I think, long-term I need to by something fixed, not the one-timey thingies.
