Or: I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe …
Friday the mask duty for the whole country became official, starting next week (so this) Monday. But as we are a federalist country, it’s up to the district countries how they interpret this, well, guideline then? In Berlin, there will be an obligation for public transportation, but no controlling or fines. Also, the public transportation employees will not let you not ride the trains or busses if you don’t wear one. So, yeah let’s see. Also, masks are highly recommended for shopping. As I said, I’m not against it just a bit confused if way smarter people than I am still say “the effect is less than proven” – but okay, for sure they don’t do any harm right? And if they help a little bit, so be it. I just don’t want to be yelled at by over correct people that do every tiny bit, acting super perfect and loudly blame those who don’t. I’m doing my part by mostly doing nothing I guess, but that consequently.
Anyhow, I read or heard (and did not do any research, so no idea if it’s true) that in some areas there are extremely severe fines if you’re caught without one, like thousands of Euros. Seems a bit on top I’d say. As I’ve written before: I’m cool with many of these actions in the end. If it helps to end this sooner than later, if it helps to save lives, I’m game. But I also want a plan, under which conditions these things will end again. And I also understand, that no one has a template for this. But whenever you severely cut down human rights, you need to be able to explain when you will be able and willing to give these rights back again. That’s lacking a bit to be honest. Like always with these kind o politicians, I lack the vision here.
Friday was the first time our boss lost count in which week we are with the lockdown. Well, who blames him and actually, who cares right? The unusual became our new reality – at least for most of us and as stated before, for most of us it works just fine. Everyone misses someone, but that’s also mostly in the personal context, not so much in the professional context I feel.
I try to remember Friday, but I can’t. That might be a good sign in the end. Ah, now I remember. It ended rather late, with some drinks too much, some concerts on BluRay and some nostalgia. Not the worst way actually.
